"Year's end is neither an end nor a beginning but a going on, with all the wisdom that experience can instill in us. Cheers to a new year and another chance for us to get it right."

This year, I want to find a better balance between work and play. I want to work more, and work harder, but I also want to play stronger and better. Feeling good and keeping my energy high is going to play an important role, and I am focusing on giving myself the best tools to achieve those goals. Here's what I am working on:
#1: Exercise More
No kidding- not to mention the poor man's health care. Take care of yourself now, and you will never regret it. Building muscle strength and tone will help you age beautifully, gracefully, and less painfully! Start slow, ease into it, but get moving. "A body at rest, tends to stay at rest, unless acted upon by an outside force", Sir Isaac Newton's First Law of Motion. Similarly, "A body in motion, tends to stay in motion."
I will be making time to do these exercises this year (click the links to read more about the benefits of each one):

#2: Eat Better
Holiday baking and large meals are over! Time to get back to simple, delicious, colorful and healthy foods. I've stocked our freezer with frozen fruits, vegetables, fish and bonless/skinless chicken breasts. I have reserved a few healthy cookbooks from the library, and I am scouring Pinterest for yummy healthy recipes. Here's a few easy reminders of what to think about buying the next time you are at the grocery:
#3: Drink More Water and Tea
Hydrating muscles, organs and skin, flushing out harmful toxins and curbing your appetite are only a few benefits of drinking more water. Tea has all the benefits of water plus the advantages of antioxidants and nutrients. I am already feeling so much better from making an effort to drink more tea, and my favorite is Egyptian Licorice by Yogi. Want to give plain old water a refreshing kick? My favorite recipe is Sassy Water from Prevention Magazine- especially in the summer!
#4: Read More
Oh, the books that have piled up on my "To Read" list! Thankfully, I received a Kindle for Christmas and have been giddily loading it up with Classic Literature and Poetry. Now I will always have something wonderful to read wherever I go! I have also loaded my Google Books app on my phone with Classic Literature, and am currently reading "The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes." Reading is one of my very favorite pastimes and I am going to make sure I carve out enough room to accommodate it in my schedule this year.
#5: Sleep More
I. Love. To. Sleep. There, I said it, and I don't feel guilty at all! Better sleep time means more productive awake time, and keeping a regular sleep schedule is key to feeling rested and refreshed every morning. I'm going to bed earlier and trying to keep it at a consistent time (10:30pm). Benefits of adequate sleep include: disease prevention, weight management, mood boosting and clear thinking ( I need all of those things!)
